Collierville (1-0) earned a hard-fought 4–1 victory over Briarcrest Christian School on Opening Day.
Collierville struck first in the second inning when Wyatt Short singled to bring home the game’s opening run. Briarcrest answered in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on a walk to even the score at 1–1.
The Dragons saved their biggest swings for the seventh. Clinging to a tie game, Collierville erupted for three runs to take control. Jack Bogenrief doubled down the left field line to plate a run, Preston Sumner followed with an RBI double to left, and Parker Burleson added another with a groundout to make it 4–1.
Tyler Robinson earned the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings while allowing just one hit, striking out three, and walking none. Bradley Stubbs set the tone early, working five innings and allowing just one unearned run on one hit while striking out four.
Offensively, Jacob Caruso led the charge with a 3-for-4 night at the plate. Brady Sumner, Wyatt Short, and Jack Bogenrief each drove in a run. The Dragons were sharp defensively as well, turning two double plays.
Briarcrest was clean in the field without committing an error, with Holland handling 13 chances. Pierce and Holland each recorded a hit for the Saints.
Collierville will be back in action Tuesday with a road matchup at Tipton-Rosemark Academy.
